Cricut You Are Here Collection Blog Hop

Welcome to the Cricut You Are Here Collection Blog Hop!

If you came from visiting Brandi Robinson, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my little corner of the blog world, simply start here and continue hopping until you return here -- our fun hop is one big loop for your viewing pleasure.

This hop features inspiring projects created using the newly released You Are Here Cricut Collection.  I absolutely LOVE this new collection!  While on the surface, it looks like a travel-themed collection (which it definitely is!), there are lots and lots of great images and titles that can be used for so much more than just travel-themed projects.  Think holidays, school, sports, weddings, everyday life, etc. etc.  AND as always the cartridge includes a great font.  If you have not checked out this new collection, what are you waiting for??  You will LOVE it!!

In the spirit of thinking outside the box and beyond the intended theme of the collection, I chose to make a Christmas layout with the fun holiday images from pages 22 and 23 of the handbook.  (To view the complete You Are Here handbook, click here.)  I also used a great sketch from Splitcoast Stampers.  I love these sketches because they give dimensions for each of the paper layers.

Supplies used:
*You Are Here Cricut Collection
*Beary Christmas paper packet
*Beary Christmas Picture My Life cards
*12" × 12" Cranberry cardstock
*12" × 12" Fern cardstock
*12" × 12" Glacier cardstock
*12" × 12" New England Ivy cardstock
*12" × 12" White Daisy cardstock
*Enchantment ribbon pack
*Beary Christmas dots
*Silver shimmer trim
*Marvy Uchida LePen journaling pen

Thin Cuts Blog Hop

Welcome to the Thin Cuts Blog Hop!

If you came from visiting Brenda Lapp, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my little corner of the blog world, simply start here and continue hopping until you return here -- our fun hop is one big loop for your viewing pleasure.

The month's bonus hop features the amazingly fabulous Thin Cuts from CTMH -- which are on special this month for 25% off.  If you have never tried these wonderful wafer thin dies, now is the time!  If you have tried them, now is the time to stock up and expand your collection!!

I have a wide variety of Thin Cuts in my personal collection -- for today's project, I chose to feature Sweet Birthday.  If you follow my blog, you know the Sweet Birthday stamp set was my favorite release in the 2016-2017 Annual Inspirations Idea Book -- however, my first thought was "No coordinating Cricut / Thin Cuts?? Ugh..."  I bought the stamp set anyways.  :-)

Then, in October, CTMH made my dreams come true.  They released a coordinating Thin Cut set to go along with my favorite Sweet Birthday stamp set.  :-)  Now I use this adorable stamp set and its coordinating Thin Cuts all the time.  I absolutely LOVE the pair!

When creating the layout below, I used a sketch from Even More Scrapping which was coincidentally called "Sweet Friend"  The sketch was fabulous because it called for multiple repeated images across the center -- perfect for the fun party hats.  It also called for a large circle on the left page which I swapped for a cut from the Cricut Artistry collection.

I plan to add pictures from my niece's recent Moana-themed birthday party.  The colors in the Adventure Fundamentals collection coordinate beautifully with the bright, fun colors from her party.  And the 4x6 and 4x3 photo spots will make it a piece of cake to finish this layout (see what I did there?  Piece of cake... Birthday party... I'm so punny!!)

To create the adorable cupcake embellishments, I stamped the image using archival black ink and allowed it to set for a few minutes before coloring the image with the CTMH watercolor pencils.  I mixed two shades of green for the wrapper on the left cupcake and two shades of blue on the right cupcake.  To blend, I used my CTMH clear shimmer brush.  I actually have two of these brushes -- one for regular use and one for blending and other "messy" use.  As for the pink frosting, I colored about a quarter inch around the edge and used the shimmer brush to fade the color towards the face.

I also added some shimmer detail to the party hats -- specifically along the bottom trim, the polka dots, and the top "poof". I just love how the shimmer brush adds a little extra "pop" to a project.

Supplies used:
*Sweet Birthday Thin Cuts
*Sweet Birthday stamp set
*Artistry Cricut collection
*Adventure Fundamentals paper packet
*12" × 12" Lagoon cardstock
*12" × 12" Lemon cardstock
*12" × 12" Raspberry cardstock
*12" × 12" White Daisy cardstock
*Archival Black stamp pad
*Shimmer Brush - clear
*Watercolor Pencils
*Shimmer Trim - silver
*Sugar Rush dots
*Foam tape

Fundamentals Creative Collections

Have you checked out our fabulous CTMH Fundamentals line yet??

This product line includes a variety of paper, complements, and ribbons in our core color palettes.  With versatile, monochromatic patterns in our exclusive colors, the papers and embellishments are perfect to pair with cardstocks and other patterned papers.  To view the Fundamentals collection products, click here.

For today's project, I challenged myself to create "girly" cards.  As a boy mom, I tend to lean towards the darker, more rustic colors and designs -- so using pink and purple together was definitely a challenge for me.  To help me, I pulled out an old 6"x6" One Sheet Wonder pattern and a simple stamp set.  Overall, I am pleased with how the cards turned out.

Supplies used:
*Adventure Fundamentals
*12" x 12" Pansy cardstock
*12" x 12" Whisper cardstock
*5 1/2" X 4 1/4" white cards & envelopes, value pack
*Hi Friend stamp set
*Blossom Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*Pansy Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*Whisper Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*VersaMark Ink Pad
*Ranger White Super Fine Embossing Powder
*Craft Heater
*Confetti Embossing Folder
*Simple Chevron embossing folder
*Adventure ribbon pack
*Black & white dots

Stamp of the Month Blog Hop -- Adore You

Welcome to the January Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!

If you came from visiting Haley Dyer, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my little corner of the blog world, simply start here and continue hopping until you return here -- our fun hop is one big loop for your viewing pleasure.

The month's featured stamp set is S1701 Adore You (pictured below).  This set is only available until January 31st and is only $5 with a $50 Close to My Heart purchase.

For today's project, I decided to combine the January SOTM with the newly released Hello Lovely paper collection.  This beautiful collection has a soft romantic feel with gorgeous colors and patterns -- and goes perfectly with this month's stamp set.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Clear Shimmer Brush, CTMH has added a new color to the Shimmer Brush family -- GOLD!  The new gold brush gave the perfect finishing touch to my project.  I used it to color in the heart image and add accents to the floral spray along the side.  Unfortunately, the above picture doesn't do the gold shimmer justice so I've included a close-up below taken at a better angle to allow the light to catch the shimmer.

Supplies used:
*Adore You stamp set (January SOTM)
*Hello Lovely paper packet
*12" x 12" Fern cardstock
*12" x 12" White Daisy cardstock
*5 1/2" X 4 1/4" white cards & envelopes, value pack
*Desert Sand Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*Fern Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*New England Ivy Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*Sea Glass Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*Sorbet Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*Black Archival Ink stamp pad
*Small round water brush
*Gold shimmer pen
*Blush shimmer ribbon
*Grey enamel gems
*Foam tape

Cricut Flower Market Blog Hop

Welcome to the Cricut Flower Market Blog Hop!

If you came from visiting Gina Brandstetter, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my little corner of the blog world, simply start here and continue hopping until you return here -- our fun hop is one big loop for your viewing pleasure.

CTMH released its 6th exclusive Cricut collection -- Flower Market -- in August, and it is FABULOUS!  The SOTM blog hop team has come together for this hop to provide you with endless inspiration for this great new cartridge.

Personally, I fell in love with Flower Market when I saw all the non-floral cuts on the cartridge.  I mean, with a name like Flower Market, great floral cuts are a given, but leave it to CTMH to add lots of non-floral cuts to make a well-rounded collection for papercrafters of all styles!

The inspiration for my project that I am sharing today came from a layout I recently saw online from one of my other favorite papercrafting companies -- after Close to My Heart, of course.  They shared a similar layout using one of their new lines, and I knew I wanted to scraplift it using Oh Deer!.  And the winter-themed cuts on the Flower Market "A" key created a perfect title and accents for the layout.

Supplies used:
*Flower Market Cricut collection
*Oh Deer! paper packet
*12" × 12" Cocoa Cardstock
*12" × 12" Ruby Cardstock
*Sea Glass glitter paper
*White glitter paper
*Scallop border punch (retired)
*Clear sparkles
*Bitty Sparkles

Wasted Time & Birthday Wishes

Over the summer, my baby sister needed to make a scrapbook layout for a friend's 21st birthday "shot book".  I had never heard of this before, but I guess it's a thing now.  Wow... just say that makes me feel/sound old!  LoL.  Anyways, my sis asked if I could help her.  Ummm... is the sky blue??  OF COURSE, I COULD HELP HER!!

So we set out to create a masterpiece.  My sister wanted to use a song lyric for the title and what better than Keith Urban's Wasted Time to go along with this fun picture of the girls at the beach in the summer and, of course, a 21st birthday?!?  We pulled paper from my non-CTMH stash (::GASP::), but jazzed it all up with some fun CTMH embellishments -- Calypso washi, green shimmer trim, and clear sparkles.  Of course, we used the clear sparkles!  Girls need their bling, right?

Here's a picture of my sister with the finished layout.  Today is actually her birthday.  Not her 21st as she's already passed that momentous occasion, but still her birthday!  :-)  Happy Birthday, baby sis!!

Until next time, design with {heart}!

Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - Yuletide Joy

Welcome to the October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!

If you came from visiting Lela, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my little corner of the blog world, simply start here and continue hopping until you return here -- our fun hop is one big loop for your viewing pleasure.

The month's featured stamp set is S1610 Yuletide Joy (pictured below).  This set is only available until October 31st and is only $5 with a $50 Close to My Heart purchase.

For today's hop, I wanted to do a simple, yet elegant Christmas card that would be relatively easy to produce in mass.  I love how the Oh Deer! paper gives a rustic feel to this card while the star stamp from the Yuletide Joy set adds an elegant touch.  If you really wanted to jazz up the card, you could heat emboss the star image in silver instead of stamping it in Whisper.

Supplies used:
*Yuletide Joy stamp set
*Art Philosophy Cricut collection (retired)
*Oh Deer! paper packet
*12" x 12" Slate cardstock
*12" x 12" White Daisy cardstock
*Sea Glass glitter paper
*5 1/2" X 4 1/4" white cards & envelopes, value pack
*Whisper Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*ShinHan Touch Twin Turquoise Blue marker
*ShinHan Touch Twin Pastel Green marker
*Bitty sparkles
