Cricut You Are Here Collection Blog Hop

Welcome to the Cricut You Are Here Collection Blog Hop!

If you came from visiting Brandi Robinson, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my little corner of the blog world, simply start here and continue hopping until you return here -- our fun hop is one big loop for your viewing pleasure.

This hop features inspiring projects created using the newly released You Are Here Cricut Collection.  I absolutely LOVE this new collection!  While on the surface, it looks like a travel-themed collection (which it definitely is!), there are lots and lots of great images and titles that can be used for so much more than just travel-themed projects.  Think holidays, school, sports, weddings, everyday life, etc. etc.  AND as always the cartridge includes a great font.  If you have not checked out this new collection, what are you waiting for??  You will LOVE it!!

In the spirit of thinking outside the box and beyond the intended theme of the collection, I chose to make a Christmas layout with the fun holiday images from pages 22 and 23 of the handbook.  (To view the complete You Are Here handbook, click here.)  I also used a great sketch from Splitcoast Stampers.  I love these sketches because they give dimensions for each of the paper layers.

Supplies used:
*You Are Here Cricut Collection
*Beary Christmas paper packet
*Beary Christmas Picture My Life cards
*12" × 12" Cranberry cardstock
*12" × 12" Fern cardstock
*12" × 12" Glacier cardstock
*12" × 12" New England Ivy cardstock
*12" × 12" White Daisy cardstock
*Enchantment ribbon pack
*Beary Christmas dots
*Silver shimmer trim
*Marvy Uchida LePen journaling pen

Just for Fun Blog Hop

Welcome to the Just for Fun Blog Hop!

If you came from visiting Priscilla Gotham, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my little corner of the blog world, simply start here and continue hopping until you return here -- our fun hop is one big loop for your viewing pleasure.

This hop features lots of wonderful inspiration using the amazing Fundamentals collection -- on sale this month only for 30-40% off!

I recently started a new project series where I am challenging myself to create as many layouts as possible using a single packet of Fundamentals paper while working through the layout guides in the new Make It From Your Heart, Vol. 3.  And as if that isn't enough of a challenge, I decided to use the Raspberry papers and complements for the layout below.  Using pink is hard for me -- I am the mom of a 6 year old who is 100% boy and I never really been a girlie-girl myself.  So it's always fun and challenging to step outside my comfort zone and create with more feminine colors/patterns.  I cannot wait to add black & white photos of my husband and I to this layout!

Thin Cuts Blog Hop

Welcome to the Thin Cuts Blog Hop!

If you came from visiting Brenda Lapp, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my little corner of the blog world, simply start here and continue hopping until you return here -- our fun hop is one big loop for your viewing pleasure.

The month's bonus hop features the amazingly fabulous Thin Cuts from CTMH -- which are on special this month for 25% off.  If you have never tried these wonderful wafer thin dies, now is the time!  If you have tried them, now is the time to stock up and expand your collection!!

I have a wide variety of Thin Cuts in my personal collection -- for today's project, I chose to feature Sweet Birthday.  If you follow my blog, you know the Sweet Birthday stamp set was my favorite release in the 2016-2017 Annual Inspirations Idea Book -- however, my first thought was "No coordinating Cricut / Thin Cuts?? Ugh..."  I bought the stamp set anyways.  :-)

Then, in October, CTMH made my dreams come true.  They released a coordinating Thin Cut set to go along with my favorite Sweet Birthday stamp set.  :-)  Now I use this adorable stamp set and its coordinating Thin Cuts all the time.  I absolutely LOVE the pair!

When creating the layout below, I used a sketch from Even More Scrapping which was coincidentally called "Sweet Friend"  The sketch was fabulous because it called for multiple repeated images across the center -- perfect for the fun party hats.  It also called for a large circle on the left page which I swapped for a cut from the Cricut Artistry collection.

I plan to add pictures from my niece's recent Moana-themed birthday party.  The colors in the Adventure Fundamentals collection coordinate beautifully with the bright, fun colors from her party.  And the 4x6 and 4x3 photo spots will make it a piece of cake to finish this layout (see what I did there?  Piece of cake... Birthday party... I'm so punny!!)

To create the adorable cupcake embellishments, I stamped the image using archival black ink and allowed it to set for a few minutes before coloring the image with the CTMH watercolor pencils.  I mixed two shades of green for the wrapper on the left cupcake and two shades of blue on the right cupcake.  To blend, I used my CTMH clear shimmer brush.  I actually have two of these brushes -- one for regular use and one for blending and other "messy" use.  As for the pink frosting, I colored about a quarter inch around the edge and used the shimmer brush to fade the color towards the face.

I also added some shimmer detail to the party hats -- specifically along the bottom trim, the polka dots, and the top "poof". I just love how the shimmer brush adds a little extra "pop" to a project.

Supplies used:
*Sweet Birthday Thin Cuts
*Sweet Birthday stamp set
*Artistry Cricut collection
*Adventure Fundamentals paper packet
*12" × 12" Lagoon cardstock
*12" × 12" Lemon cardstock
*12" × 12" Raspberry cardstock
*12" × 12" White Daisy cardstock
*Archival Black stamp pad
*Shimmer Brush - clear
*Watercolor Pencils
*Shimmer Trim - silver
*Sugar Rush dots
*Foam tape

Damask Divas' Dreamin' Big Blog Hop

Welcome to the Damask Divas' March Blog Hop featuring the Close to My Heart Dreamin' Big paper packet!  The Damask Divas' team is excited to inspire you with fabulous projects from this beautiful collection!  You can see the full hop line-up over on the Damask Divas' blog.

In the beginning of December, CTMH Consultants around the US were able to attend a one-day mini-convention of sorts.  These events are held at locations throughout the US/Canada and offer consultants a sneak peek at upcoming releases as well as the opportunity to create beautiful projects with the new releases.

At December's SE1 launch, we created this fabulous Adventure layout using the Dream' Big collection. I love how this layout showcases the versatility of the Dreamin' Big collection.  At first glance, the collection appears masculine with its color scheme and bug embellishments.  However, the the flowers offer the perfect alternative to the bugs for a softer, more feminine look to this collection.

Supplies used:
*Dreamin' Big paper packet
*Dreamin' Big Complements
*12" × 12" White Daisy cardstock (for photo mats)

Damask Divas Hello Lovely Blog Hop

Welcome to the Damask Divas' February Blog Hop featuring the Close to My Heart Hello Lovely paper packet!  The Damask Divas' team is excited to inspire you with fabulous projects from this beautiful collection!  You can see the full hop line-up over on the Damask Divas' blog.

When I first say the Hello Lovely collection back in December, I fell in love -- which is so strange for me because as a #boymom, I normally tend to shy away from romantic floral collections.  But something about this gorgeous collection just called out to me and I couldn't wait to play with it!

Today's project is part of a new series I am planning to do in 2017 -- called Good, Better, Best.  In the series, I will show how to create simple, basic or "Good" projects... and then how to jazz them up through stamping, Cricut-ing, and embellishing to make them "Better" and "Best" projects.

To take the layout below from "Good" to "Better", I inked the edges of all the cut paper pieces with Chocolate ink.  This helps them to "pop" off the page.  I double-cut and layered the "happy" title to give it some pop as well.  I also used foam tape to pop-up the small banner/phrase on the upper-right square and curled up the edges of the lace doilies to add some dimension to the page.  The dimension may be hard to see in the picture, but is fabulous in person.

I would love if you would subscribe to my blog and "like" my Facebook page to see how this layout is transformed from Better to Best.

Supplies used:
*Hello Lovely paper packet
*12" × 12" Kraft Cardstock
*12" × 12" New England Ivy Cardstock
*12" × 12" White Daisy Cardstock
*Journaling Prompts stamp set
*Chocolate Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*Thin Cuts - Happy

Cricut Flower Market Blog Hop

Welcome to the Cricut Flower Market Blog Hop!

If you came from visiting Gina Brandstetter, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my little corner of the blog world, simply start here and continue hopping until you return here -- our fun hop is one big loop for your viewing pleasure.

CTMH released its 6th exclusive Cricut collection -- Flower Market -- in August, and it is FABULOUS!  The SOTM blog hop team has come together for this hop to provide you with endless inspiration for this great new cartridge.

Personally, I fell in love with Flower Market when I saw all the non-floral cuts on the cartridge.  I mean, with a name like Flower Market, great floral cuts are a given, but leave it to CTMH to add lots of non-floral cuts to make a well-rounded collection for papercrafters of all styles!

The inspiration for my project that I am sharing today came from a layout I recently saw online from one of my other favorite papercrafting companies -- after Close to My Heart, of course.  They shared a similar layout using one of their new lines, and I knew I wanted to scraplift it using Oh Deer!.  And the winter-themed cuts on the Flower Market "A" key created a perfect title and accents for the layout.

Supplies used:
*Flower Market Cricut collection
*Oh Deer! paper packet
*12" × 12" Cocoa Cardstock
*12" × 12" Ruby Cardstock
*Sea Glass glitter paper
*White glitter paper
*Scallop border punch (retired)
*Clear sparkles
*Bitty Sparkles

Before you go, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Close to My Heart's AWESOME Cyber Monday special.  When you spend $30 on retail-priced product, you can buy one of our Cricut® collections at 30% off!  The sale starts Monday, November 28, at 12 AM MST / 2 AM EST.  May I suggest the Flower Market collection?  *wink, wink*

Wasted Time & Birthday Wishes

Over the summer, my baby sister needed to make a scrapbook layout for a friend's 21st birthday "shot book".  I had never heard of this before, but I guess it's a thing now.  Wow... just say that makes me feel/sound old!  LoL.  Anyways, my sis asked if I could help her.  Ummm... is the sky blue??  OF COURSE, I COULD HELP HER!!

So we set out to create a masterpiece.  My sister wanted to use a song lyric for the title and what better than Keith Urban's Wasted Time to go along with this fun picture of the girls at the beach in the summer and, of course, a 21st birthday?!?  We pulled paper from my non-CTMH stash (::GASP::), but jazzed it all up with some fun CTMH embellishments -- Calypso washi, green shimmer trim, and clear sparkles.  Of course, we used the clear sparkles!  Girls need their bling, right?

Here's a picture of my sister with the finished layout.  Today is actually her birthday.  Not her 21st as she's already passed that momentous occasion, but still her birthday!  :-)  Happy Birthday, baby sis!!

Until next time, design with {heart}!

CTMH Holiday Expressions New Product Blog Hop

Welcome to the CTMH Holiday Expressions New Product Blog Hop!

If you came from visiting Vickie ODell, then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my little corner of the blog world, simply start here and continue hopping until you return here -- our fun hop is one big loop for your viewing pleasure.

This hop features product from the new Holiday Expressions idea book (pictured below).  The products in this book are available from now until December 31st.  From Halloween to Fall to Christmas, the HE book has you covered.  And with so many great products to choose from,, this hop is sure to be full of lots of fabulous inspiration!

For my project, I decided to put together a pocket scrapbooking layout using the Jeepers Creepers paper packet.  While this packet comes with two fun sheets of cut apart cards, I chose to make some of my own using the B&T papers and other CTMH products to show the versatility of pocket scrapbooking.  Our Picture My Life collections and paper packet cut-apart sheets are awesome for putting together quick and easy pocket layouts, but with a little fun and creativity, you can make your own pocket pieces for a unique layout that's completely your own.

I've designed both pages, but will be assembling and adding the final embellishments to the right hand page on Friday night at a home gathering.  Below is a peek at the layout as it sits now.  I will be trimming down the White Daisy layer of the monster to expose some of the fun Tangerine on the base layer -- for sure, I will make the horns Tangerine and possibly the toes.  What do you think?  I will also "sprinkle" several more black stars throughout the page.

Supplies used:
*Artistry Cricut Collection
*Artbooking Cricut Collection
*Memory Protectors -- Design 3
*Jeepers Creepers paper packet
*Thin Cuts -- Happy
*12" x 12" Black cardstock
*12" x 12" Pansy cardstock
*12" x 12" Tangerine cardstock
*12" x 12" White Daisy cardstock
*12" x 12" Willow cardstock
*Pansy Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*Tangerine Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*Willow Exclusive Inks stamp pad
*Jennifer's Hand Stamp Set
*Picture My Life Watercolor Cards -- Clear
*Picture My Life Journaling Cards (retired, now available w/tabs)
*Waterbrush -- Medium Flat
*Green Shimmer Trim
*Black Enamel Stars (retired)
